Boccabella's Farm Shop & Cellar Door, originally the old Hindmarsh Island School House (circa 1850 we think) will now be given a new lease of life since our acquisition from the Alexandrina Council in 2002. The property had been left derelict for many years since its last lessons in the 1950's and since then has been occasionally used for election voting, a local meeting venue and of course Bingo!

Aptly named Boccabella (Italian meaning beautiful mouth) in reference to its proximity to the Murray Mouth, the school house is located on the main rod of the island, Randell Road, opposite the Murray Mouth turn off.

The outlook for the School House is bright. With careful restoration and refurbishment Boccabella's will be a place for locals and visitors to meet in a casual, relaxed atmosphere to sample and enjoy island wines and local and regional food produce. Coffee, cake and café style lunch meals will be available from Thursday - Sundays, and continuously throughout holiday periods. Guest musos will feature on weekends, so please refer to events for artists and times.

Boccabella's looks forward to welcoming you and catering to your needs, singles, families, groups, pensioners (seniors rates apply) and buses. And you never know, there may just be the occasional game of BINGO!
